  I lived SF for most of the 70s but was a total prude. I "met" Harvey Milk (actually entered his campaign headquarters selling peanut brittle made by the cultish church I belonged to) who summarily ordered me off the premises. I also met, face-to-face, the man who murdered him, when he came to my front door campaigning for his election. He seemed like a decent fellow at the time. He also murdered Mayor Moscone.
  
  From what I can remember of my years in SF, there are not all that many days when one could comfortably go nude, anyhow. I remember wearing a full-length winter coat during the summers because the cold, damp fog rolled in every afternoon.
  
  That said, SF is still my favorite city of all that I've lived in or visited. I'm glad that it's now legal to walk outside nude in SF, but my advice is, "If you go to San Francisco....." take a warm coat along. Forget the flowers on your hair.

  I grew up in the area and didn't know. I sure would have spend a LOT more time in SF if I'd known.
