Underwear as beachwear. — Discussion on True Swingers

Does anybody else find that there is quite a lot of underwear these days that can double as beachwear?
Here are four of mine that I intend to wear for that purpose and some pictures of others on beaches.
Should I add them to the group media?

I have worn brief-style underwear as beachwear many times. Mostly poly or nylon with some spandex. But one time many years ago I had some briefs of some sort of light terry fabric, really stretchy and comfortable. I wore them at a crowded hotel pool. When I got out of the pool I looked down to discover that the fabric got so clingy you could see every outline of my dick and balls and the crack of my ass. I feel that we should all be able to wear whatever we like on the beach or nothing at all. I used to live near a nudist beach. I never wore anything but a few other men wore something very brief when walking around and a few of the ladies kept their panties on with a pad inside.

I agree that many kinds of underwear could be worn on beaches here in the UK. I used to live near a nudist beach where any kind of underwear could be worn. Further along the beach, which was not nude, many women would spend their lunchtime break from their work on the beach wearing only their panties.

There weren't many women who sunbathed there, but they did tend to lay out in the periphery where the beach transitioned into clothing only. I remember one time when a young woman was sunbathing on her towel. She was wearing a swimsuit. I asked if I could sit and chat with her for a while. She said Yes, but that I would need to wear some clothes. She didn't want me to be totally nude. Since I hadn't bothered to bring a swimsuit with me, I wore my underwear instead. She was okay with that.

I remember once seeing a middle-aged lady at the local textile suburban beach in a matching bra and brief set. It certainly covered satisfactorily but was obviously underwear rather than swimwear. I considered that she may not know the difference but more likely she didn't care, especially if the beach visit wasn't planned.
It triggered a little cognitive dissonance in me as I considered it, and I concluded that, while acceptable, I do prefer my beachwear to look like beachwear.

When my wife brought some Fredrick's of Hollywood strings back from a work trip to the USA in the nineties, I don't think she expected me to consider them to be beachwear, but the fishnet one proved irresistible to me. I found that splashing in the waves was a nice feeling as it provided the restraint of a pouch with the openness to the currents of nothing - quite enjoyable. Although I didn't consider myself a nudist then, and figured I could get away with a fishnet string as long as no-one was nearby, or I was covered by the water from the waist down, I hadn't factored on a strong set of waves arriving just as three dressed ladies passed on their walk. My strategy of keeping certain bodily parts safely below the waterline totally failed as the waves simultaneously dumped me and pushed me towards the shore, totally defeating my non-exposure strategy. My confirmed-textile wife was annoyed, the ladies just bemused and I felt my predicament wasn't that bad overall. I have since worn it in out-of-the-way areas without feeling the need to keep things covered, although combining it with metal rings does add emphasis that a distant sighting may not reveal.

My wife has some panties from Victoria's Secret that she could probably get away with wearing at a textile beach as long as it was one of the more secluded areas. I would love to see her do that.
