Jun 29, 2014hello, this site has become quite international but still, for personal info like weight and height, only Imperial units are foreseen. This is quite US/UK-centric.
Many users on TS are European or in any case from zones of the world where metric units are used instead. Considering that converting units it's a simple (and widely available) operation, why don't add either option:1) allow an user, inside her/his profile, to choose the preferred unit measurements or 2) as an alternative, add to the current Imperial units also the indication of the corresponding metric value, something like:Weight: 100 (45 kg) Height: 5"6 (170cm)
Quite simple but quite useful and improving the user experience :)

I find that in a circumstance where I am really intrigued . . . I google for conversions! For a passing interest your idea is swell! If you are really interested . . .by god you will find out . . . ;-) jy
ReactReply - G&G&GOriginal PosterNov 10, 2015I know that there's plenty of google tools to perform conversions on the fly, but there's also plenty of international sites which allows every user to set, inside her/his preferences, also the preferred unit measurement system. Going back and forth on google tools just to figure out how a person is tall/weighting is quite boring, while in XXI century we have all the web tools to embed it into a simple but far more practical user preference :)ReactReply
- G&G&GOriginal PosterSep 23, 2016Come on. This is not a good answer. Your arguments are totally out of any validity, both from the technical and economical point of view. There are ''plenty'' of dating sites and apps which are based on USA but provide that kind of option. There are plenty of dating sites and apps which are based in Europe which provide this kind of option. Practically all Android/iOS based dating app *do* support this, regardless the nation the server is located in. This is an international site and not as US-only site. And no point about expensiveness: since I'm a web programmer, I'm fully aware that providing such kind of option is nothing expensive nor requiring high degree of technical skills. It's a few javascript lines and when I write "few" I do really mean "few": actually, it's "two lines of code". Two. Or at most six, if you're going the long way coding. Any sophomore informatic's student could do it. It's actually really a trivial job with almost no cost to implement - so don't claim about expensiveness for managing this site because simply this is not an argument, exactly as it's not an argument the location the server are based in.ReactReply

MixxmasterJan 1, 2017Thank you for clearing that up. The comment about the expense didn't ring true with me. Glad you were able to provide some facts. My suspicion is that the owners really don't want to spend any time or money with updating things on here. The last update a few months back provided a few cosmetic updates, but nothing meaningful. One the downside, I've noticed the main page loads very slowly, both on here and on TN.

I was a paying member for a year but did not renew. The site has always been a bit clunky and slow to respond to requests/complaints. There are other sites that are run better that I pay a yearly fee to use.

In any case, your argument is very weak: if there's something not good or that can be improved in this site, then only paying members have the right to complain, according to you? Well, if this is your opinion, then, AS A PAYING MEMBER I have all the rights to raise my points.
What I see is that, instead trying to address SERIOUSLY a technical demand, you're find a lot of excuses not to do it, even using (wrong and unfair, I dare say) guesses about paying or free users and, what's worse, using unsupportable arguments such as "this is a US based site" (and so what? also other sex dating app with US-based servers such as Grindr, Scruff and many other offer this possibility, and - listen! - even to free members!), "this operation is very costly" (it's not) and so on.
By the way: if this a "US based site", then can you kindly explain me why the conversion US$-]Euro is pretty well supported? If you say that in-]cm and lbs-]kg can not be supported because this is "a US based site", then you shouldn't even support the US$-]Euro currency conversion, unless you disagree with your own arguments...
About cost: this site went recently through a complete redesign from traditional to responsive web design. I guess that this was HIGHLY costly: well, while in this transition, the supposed cost to add such a simple Imperial metric conversion would have been *less than negligible*. So, please, come on.
You were very unlucky to raise this argument against a PAYING MEMBER AS I AM.
You should at least apologize for this quite unprofessional (and somewhat unrespectful to people who's paying you *their* money) behaviour.
The only result you're getting is that I'm starting questioning whether *you* really deserve *my* money, after seeing the way you replied...ReactReply
