Single bi/gay men and resorts

Many resorts either don't allow single men or charge them much more to enter. Discrimination? Once inside most people are very friendly but there is still people who are standoffish just because you're alone - guess they think they are going to be assaulted. I still find it worthwhile and ignore those people as they do me. Which leads me to a side subject: There ought to be a way of connecting with others that are open to friendship or more while at the resort. Any ideas?
