Recently I was asked by a close friend of mine asked why I was a nudist, since I am quite open about the subject. I gave her a short answer then, but I think I will elaborate a bit here since it’s a little more complex than I stated before. I will use the term nudist for simplicities sake, but I do prefer to use the term “Naturist” as I will explain later. The main reason I am a nudist and enjoy being completely naked whenever I can is comfort. I dislike clothes and I find it comfortable to be in my own skin, especially during hot weather. I don’t feel a need to keep my clothes on when there is simply no reason to do so! If I don’t have to hide my body from people, then in my own home I won’t wear any clothes. The other BIG reason that I am a nudist is because I see it as not just a freedom from clothes, but a freedom from the pointless pressures of society and conformity to very narrow standards of beauty. I do not care if someone is fat or thin. Big or small. Tall or short. Doesn’t matter that they have long hair or short hair. You have literally NOTHING to hide from me at all. I will still treat you the same way and I think you can be beautiful without any restrictions. I believe that by being naked, all of the shame of nudity and all the messages of sex negativity come off along with your clothes. It is the ultimate statement that you are happy and comfortable with yourself. That you don’t NEED to change just because the media says you should. This does not mean you can’t enjoy fashion or loose weight for health reasons, for POSITIVE reasons. It just means you are not bound by them and you are not abiding by them out of obligation. You go along with them out of what you like, not coercion. Adding to that, being naked and having sex are not permanently linked together. You can have positive attitudes about sex and be a nudist, but just because you are naked does not mean you have to be desiring something sexual at the time.

Traveling expands my mind. I love to see how others live individually and as a society. When I travel, I observe the daily activities of the locals. I love to learn to cook foods specific to a certain culture or region. I lived a fairly sheltered young life only traveling within the continental U.S., and as an adult have focused on visiting beaches as my vacations are few and far between and the nude beach is my favorite destination. I want to be wild and free!
